Origami Messenger

2-level Conjuration

Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: Touch
Components: Verbal, Somatic, Material
Materials: a sheet of paper worth at least 1sp, which the spell consumes
Duration: Until dispelled
You transform a sheet of paper into an origami bird that can carry a written message of up to 25 words. The bird flies at a speed of 60 feet per round, taking the shortest possible route towards a specific location that you name (which must be familiar to you and on the same plane of existence, else the spell fails to animate the bird). This location could be a person's desk, the inside of a letterbox, or any other accessible location you can think of. If the bird reaches the target it will settle down in the target location and the spell ends, deanimating the origami bird. If the location given is inaccessible to the origami bird, it will flap weakly and continuously near whatever is obstructing its path until either the path is clear, or a creature unfolds the bird forcefully; doing so also dispels the spell. The bird is lightweight, and barely capable of carrying the message it is marked with; it is unable to carry any other objects.
At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the speed of the origami bird increases by 30 feet per round and its carrying capacity increases by 25 words for each level above 2nd.
Available for: Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Wizard, Warlock, Bard, Rogue (Arcane Trickster)
