Skabatha's Cauldron

WONDROUS ITEM ARTIFACT MAGICAL ALCHEMICAL Hag or Witch Requires Attunement

This is a large adamantine cauldron that was used by the Night Hag Sabatha Nightshade for brewing potions and creating magical items. It contains part of Tasha's Cauldron.   Attunement. Any Humanoid creature except for Hags and Witches that attunes to the cauldron must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be aged to the point of decrepitude. In this state, the creature’s speed is halved, the range of its vision and hearing is reduced to 30 feet, and it has disadvantage on all ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws. The creature will reach the end of its natural life span in 3d8 days. Only a Greater Restoration spell, Wish or Heal can reverse this aging effect on the creature.   Three hags or witches can attune to the cauldron simultaneously, provided they have formed a coven. If the coven disbands, the attunement ends for all three hags or witches.   Adamantine Cauldron. Any alchemical crafting checks made are with Advantage. The cauldron can be used for creating the following items:
  • Placing the skull of a humanoid that died in the last 24 hours in the cauldron, filling it with water, nightshade and stirring it with an ordinary stick creates a Stick of Animation.
  • Filling the cauldron with the blood and entrails of three Blink Dogs and boiling it with some mushrooms turns the contents into 1d4+1 Oil of Etherealness.
  • Boiling a vial of hag's blood, a hag's eye and the brain of a recently deceased humanoid creature in this cauldron creates an Amulet of True Sight.
  • Shouting into the cauldron filled with water creates a Bottled Scream.
Once used for the creation of a magical item, the cauldron can’t be used again for 8 days.
