When viewing any author profile page, the background profile cover image is sized incorrectly, being too large. However, when the browser window is very wide, but very short, the profile image is sized correctly.
Expected for profile banner to reach 1920x480 size and stay that size once reached.
  I've tracked the issue to the css for the element:

.card-img-wrap {
  opacity: 1 !important;
  background-size: cover;
  background-position: center;
}

  examples:
- oversized profile banner when window is fullscreen - more correctly sized profile banner when window is very short but wide. - oversize profile banner, but tall and thin window.

1. Upload profile cover image that's 1920x480 (the recommended size) 2. Maximize window (image is now really big and zoomed in) 3. Resize window to be very narrow, but wide, and image shrinks as window is resized.
